So I have a problem...
So I'm having some accent issues. Lately I've caught myself saying "Oh YAH" quite often (stressing the "YAH"), and yesterday I even caught myself using the term "switcheroo". Then I took this quiz, which confirmed my fears:

I know I've always had it...it's just that I think up until now I've been in denial. It's not exactly the most exotic accent in the world.

What Team Are You On?
Well, it seems I live in a house divided...no, not religiously or politically. Worse. Televisionically (pretend that's a word). It seems that while I am rooting for Pam to end up with Jim, my husband prefers Karen's character.
. That's right - Karen. The threat. The plot device. He says that she's "more likeable" and more "morally sound" than Pam (something about Pam not only living with her fiance but flirting with someone else). Can you imagine?! (Oh wait, he may have a point there...). Still - how can you not root for Pam?! I mean, she moved out, right?! So it is time: the war is on. Tonight the Stamford and Scranton forces clash and the drama begins. Only time will tell what the season will have in store for us as the writers continue to string us along...
Don't Waste It
So I'm in the middle of reading John Piper's
Don't Waste Your Life, and it is phenomenal. I have found myself both challenged and convicted to better use my life to honor and glorify Christ.
From the back of the book:
"Most people slip by in life without a passion for God, spending their lives on trivial diversions, living for comfort and pleasure, and perhaps trying to avoid sin. This book will warn you not to get caught up in a life that counts for nothing. It will challenge you to live and die boasting in the cross of Christ and making the glory of God your singular passion."How easy it is for me to waste time on trivial diversions. I say this carefully, because I want to avoid slipping into the legalistic practice of avoiding anything that isn't "about God", analyzing to death whether or not each and every thought is "spiritual enough". I believe there is a time to relax...a time to watch TV...a time to laugh at the silly and mundane. My interest in those kinds of things, in and of themselves, are not what troubles me about myself. What troubles me is how easy it is for me to focus on the trivial and, in the process,
forget God. I want to view ALL of life - the meaty and the meaningless - through His "lens". Make sense?
Anyway, if you read nothing else in this book, I encourage you to read chapter 7...Piper's thoughts on wartime/peacetime and the avoidance ethic are particularly challenging.
