Super Size THIS!

Well, hello and greetings (although I seriously doubt anyone is reading this, since I haven't even told anyone I have a blog!).

Tonight after church Mark and I decided to rent a movie, so we hit our usual video store (Hollywood Video) where we did our usual thing (browse aimlessly past all the shelves - at least once :) - until we find something that we both want (or are willing to watch). Because of our vast differences in theatrical tastes, (and also because the amount of tasteless garbage in the video store), this is a process that requires patience, understanding, and typically a compromise of sorts on at least one of our parts. This tactic has sometimes worked well (like when we rented "Trekkies"), but has sometimes failed miserably (like when we rented "Uptown Girls" or paid money to see "Chasing Liberty"). Anyway, tonight's selection was the documentary "Super Size Me". Basically, it was filmed by a guy who decided to do an experiment to figure out what would happen if he ate nothing but McDonalds for a month straight. Interesting concept, yes. And I'm sure in the end he was able to make some sort of profound and telling point about the damage we do to our bodies when eating fast food. However, we didn't make it past 20 minutes of the film. It was at this point that he began vomiting his McDonalds after going through the drive through. Not the greatest date movie. Couldn't he have made his point without subjecting us to that?! So we turned the movie off and ended up watching some MXC (a new discovery to me :)) and some classic SNL. So...that's my story. Why am I sharing it? Because it's a blog and I can type about whatever I want.

On another note, God is so good. You know that feeling when you've got a burden - a worry, a concern, a fear, etc. - and then God lifts it away? That happened to me today. I'd had some concerns on my mind and heart that were weighing me down that I've just been giving over to God continually, and today He very clearly resolved them. Sad to say it surprised me! Why is it that when God does something good for us, so often it comes as a surprise. He's a good God...He loves us, He's the giver of all good things, He has promised to bless those who delight in Him...so it really shouldn't be a shock when He clears up our fears/worries after we've given them to Him. Just one of those things that kind of made me wonder why I was worried in the first place!
